If I had a hammer...oh wait, I do!
Rob has a habit of stopping by estate sales when he's out running errands, so I asked him to pick me up any hammers he happened to come across. He brought me one with an unusual square head which I love. When I hold it at an angle and strike metal with the edge of the square, it makes a short line. (Well, a line segment, I can hear all of my former math teachers reminding me in the back of my head. Yes.)
Anyway, when I strike silver repeated with it in one direction, and then turn it 90° and strike it several more times, I get this texture.
I am in love with this texture. I also love the shape, which kind of reminds me of very simplified maple seeds.
I had to do more of this texture, so I made this mixed metal amulet. The three pieces move freely, so it's great for fidgeting, and honestly, I think this may be the coolest piece I've made.
